Cost Clarification for the Reunion

Posted in Reunion on October 10, 2008 by beautiful letdown

Many have inquired so here beith the official cost breakdown:

The $50.00 dollars per person is for adults only.  It does not include the offspring.  There is not a fee for them.

Only 16 days until the festivities.  Time to get your photographs out, pump up your Timmy T album, and reminisce.

Take care,

Corey Pellet

Reunion Attire

Posted in Reunion on October 1, 2008 by beautiful letdown

Many have inquired about the attire for the reunion.  It’s been decided that the dress code for the reunion will be casual.  Being that we are at a really nice Golf Club, please refrain from wearing shorts or flip flops.

Personally, I’m rockin’ my brown double belt Z Cavarrichi’s (tight rolled of course), a Genera shirt, some Zodiacs, a Swatch, 3 Body Glove wrist bands (Baggett knows about those), and I might tease my bangs or just go with the chili bowl haircut.

Alternate Reunion Date

Posted in Reunion on August 7, 2008 by beautiful letdown

Our attempts to plan the swellest reunion ever have come with a big issue.  This is to be expected when planning a reunion in a two month time frame.  With that said, we need your feedback.

Stephanie Kleam (Taylor) has worked tirelessly to reserve a facility worthy of the class of 1993.  Unfortunately, with the tentative reunion date being September 27, the choices are not so great.  Many won’t provide the space we need and others are not worth the price.  We have been able to secure the Lantana Country Club (between Highland Village and Flower Mound).  The CC would come complete with large room, outdoor patio, full service staff, food, drinks, dance floor, DJ, and a big screen for our slide show.  The catch is that we could only reserve it for Saturday, October 25.

So, how does Saturday, October 25 work for you?  Please don’t respond by comment.  Respond via email to Stephanie (StephanieKleam@Landam.com) and I (coreypellet@sbcglobal.net).

We could still do something informal on September 26 after the homecoming game.  The official reunion would be for Saturday, October 25.

Thanks,

Corey Pellet

In Memory of Joseph “Joe” Spolnik, Jr.

Posted in In Memory on July 17, 2008 by beautiful letdown

Peter Joseph “Joe” Spolnik, Jr., 33, of Roanoke passed away Sunday, July 6, 2008 at his residence.  He was born October 15, 1974 in Ohio.  He worked at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors.

He is survived by his son, Dylan Spolnik of Fort Worth; father, Ronnie Houghton; sister, Molly Houghton of CO and brother, Corey Houghton of Roanoke.

It’s posts like this that I’ll dread writing but it is inevitable that, from time to time, I will have too.  So here is my challenge to myself and my challenge to you.  Live each day as if it is your last.  As cliche as that sounds, we live in a world where (for some reason) busy is a badge of honor.  As if busy equals success or happiness.

Never be too busy to enjoy the moments that life offers.  Because life is lived in moments and those moments become memories.  Once a moment is gone, it’s gone forever and a memory that could have been, will never be.

The one statement in Joe’s obituary that resonated in my heart was “He is survived by his son, Dylan Spolnik of Fort Worth.”  I too am 33 and a father.  That hits too close to home.

You know what my favorite moment is?  My daughter and son are best friends and they insist on sleeping in the same room every night.  So every night before I go to bed, I go into my son’s room and watch my children sleep on his bunk bed.  In that quiet, peaceful moment, all of life makes sense.

Rest in Peace Joe…

So, what are some of your favorite moments?

Blogging 101

First day of Blogging 101 class.  Teacher enters.

Teacher: Good morning class.

Class:  Good morning Blogging 101 teacher type person.

Teacher:  Class, today we’re going to discuss a basic principle of blogging.  What does a different color of text represent?

Ok, I apologize.  Momentary lapse of sarcasm.

I have received several e-mails asking why some of the text is white and why some is orange.  Anytime you see the orange text, it is linked to a website.  For example: Kittens.

So from now on simply click the orange text and prepare for a visual feast that will at times be funny, at times thought provoking, and at times informative.

Happy Blogging,

15 Year Reunion Planning Meeting

Posted in Planning Meeting on July 15, 2008 by beautiful letdown

On Saturday, July 12, the first planning meeting was held at The Pourhouse Sports Grill in Denton.  There was great food, great drinks (iced tea and sodas), and ridiculous amounts of reminiscing.  But most important, there were great friends with a ton of history together sharing one common desire.  To pull off a 15 year reunion.

Statistics show that it takes an average of 18 – 24 months to plan a reunion.  Seeing as we have a whopping 74 days to plan the 15 year festivities, we’re either seriously delusional or just share a strong desire to see our classmates again.

Right now everything is tentative.  With that said, here are the tentative plans:

Friday, September 26

Attend the Homecoming football game and then have an optional get together at a local restaurant, bar, or sports grill.  This will be for classmates and spouses but not the offspring.  As if we really want them running around a sports grill at 11:00 pm.

Saturday, September 27

A cookout for the entire family.  Sand volleyball, bounce houses, swimming, a live band (joke) and much more.  Then Saturday night, aah yeah, it’s on!  This will be the official reunion event.  Classmates and spouses only.

As details are finalized and information comes available I will post it on this blog and Stephanie Kleam (Taylor) or I will send out a mass e-mail.

Until Next Time,

Corey Pellet

Welcome Class of 1993!

This is the official blog of Lake Dallas High School’s class of 1993.  The vision behind this blog is that it will serve two purposes.  The initial purpose of this blog will be to post updates, news, and information regarding the 15 year reunion that is currently being planned.  The long term purpose of this blog will be to provide a place for our classmates to keep in touch.  You’ll be able to post news, updates, stories, and pictures regarding your family or fellow classmates.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or comments.  My e-mail address is coreypellet@sbcglobal.net.

Until Next Time,
